Together, ng Connect executives offer expertise and experience across a wide range of sectors and markets.
Jason Collins is Vice President of IoT Market Development at Nokia and leads the ng Connect Program. His responsibility includes driving innovation by developing ecosystems and executing via agile prototyping of technology, service concepts, and business models.
Jason has pioneered the development of several working partner innovation centers and business incubators.
Jason’s career began in communications research at Georgia Institute of Technology and includes over 15 years of experience in telecom service providers from large traditional telecoms to startups where he headed up product management for innovative services such as programmable QoS based VPLS and MPLS networks, VoIP and early cloud-based managed business application services.
At Nokia, Volker is focused on combining the technology and business side of innovation. He heads Nokia’s 5G market development activities for the company, helping to create the future of telecommunications. Prior to this role, Volker was one of the founders of Nokia FutureWorks and brought Technology Vision 2020 to life. He has a broad professional background in portfolio management, sales, and business consulting.
In Nokia’s 5G market development team, Jason combines his broad technical and market knowledge to advance the future of communications. He has contributed to showcasing many ‘industry firsts’ at technology events around the globe and is impassioned to show how technology can have a positive impact on our world.
Khamis Abulgubein leads our Enterprise IoT team. His team focuses on creating service concepts & executing market trials for large enterprises; usually out of the large enterprise IoT lab in Texas. He and his team have expertise in IoT & mobile connectivity, device management, data analytics & visualization, sensor collection, network virtualization, software-defined networking, edge & cloud computing, enterprise communication/collaboration, data center interconnections and connected vehicle services.
For the past 5 years, Khamis was responsible for the Innovation Program at Sprint for Nokia. In that role, he managed collaboration between Nokia and Sprint’s CTO organization on emerging technologies and innovation; utilizing the innovation lab at Sprint’s HQ in Overland Park, KS.
Khamis has over 15 years of experience in the IT and telecommunications industries, with roles in R&D, program management, consulting, marketing and technical support. He has worked for infrastructure vendors, Tier-1 service providers and in the retail industry
Khamis holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, with a concentration on Computer Technology, and Spanish.
Jean-Marc Cannet leads the ng Connect program for EMEA at Nokia.
He has served Nokia for 30 years in various positions including customer marketing, positioning marketing, solutions marketing and operational marketing. He has also worked directly with operators on business consulting, business support and international sales development, including assignments of 18 months in South Africa, and two years in both the U.S. and China. He joined Nokia in 1986.
Jean-Marc is a telecom engineer graduate from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Bretagne in France, and holds an MBA from INSEAD
Terri Gibbs leads the global Marketing and Operations and Americas region for the ng Connect Program. Terri joined Nokia in December 2008.
Her career in telecommunications includes over 16 years in senior executive positions, including Vice President – Strategy and Business Development for GTE Telephone Operations (prior to the Verizon merger) and Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing for Masergy Communications, where she led the sales, marketing and product management organizations. Prior to Masergy Communications, she was the Chief Operating Officer for Allied Riser Communications and Jato Communications. Her experience also includes managerial accounting. She holds an MBA from Illinois State University, a BA in Accounting from Illinois Wesleyan University and recently completed the Graduate Marketing Certification Program at Southern Methodist University.
Lee L’Esperance is currently the Business Model Lead within Nokia’s IoT Market Development organization.
In this role, Lee leads in the identification of existing and new business models for service concepts developed by Nokia and the ng Connect ecosystem. Lee also serves as facilitator for customization of business models and development of business cases based on regional and customer-specific differences.
Lee has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and has worked in a broad set of areas in leadership roles including basic research, manufacturing optimization, supply chain, product cost management, competitive analysis, sales support, and business model/business case development. Lee was also a member of the Bell Laboratories organization twice during his career. Lee holds 6 US patents, and has authored numerous technical articles on various topics. In his most recent role prior to joining the Emerging Technology and Innovation team, Lee was a Senior Consultant within the Bell Labs Business Modeling team. In this role Lee lead both internal and external consultative engagements.
Lee holds a M.S. degree in Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a B.S.E.E. from Drexel University, and an A.A.S. in Laser/Electro-Optic technology from Camden County College. Lee has served as an adjunct professor previously and currently serves on the Advisory Board for Op-Tec, The National Center for Optics and Photonics Education. Lee is based in southern New Jersey where he resides with his wife and family.
Nash Parker is Director, IoT Market Development at Nokia. For the ng Connect Program, he develops strategic business goals and identifies and evaluates partnership opportunities, marketing plans and legal requirements. Mr. Parker is also responsible for analyst relations and is a primary liaison with advertising agencies and media companies, including music, film, television and video gaming. Before joining Nokia, Mr. Parker was Manager of Business Development for Sony Computer Entertainment America (PlayStation) and held advertising and sales/marketing positions at General Motors Corporation.
Mr. Parker’s speaking engagements include the National Association of Broadcasters; CTIA-The Wireless Association; IEEE’s International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting; Digital Hollywood; NXTcomm; Consumer Electronics Show (CES); Digital Entertainment World; Advertising 2.0; TelcoTV; Supercomm; Broadband World Forum; and M2M Evolution.
Nash has received a BA from Kalamazoo College with an International Commerce Concentration and a MBA in Finance from Wayne State University/University of Michigan. He is US/West Coast based.
Patti Van Bruggen
Patti Van Bruggen is the Director, IoT Market Development in charge of prototype Development Team for the ng Connect program.
During the past 12 years at Nokia, Patti worked in IP R&D, customer network migration and pre-sales network solution validation. In addition, she focused on emerging business opportunities with “Proof of Concept” network solutions as part of the Chief Technology Office. While spending the previous ten years at Nortel Networks, based in Ottawa, Canada, Patti focused on product development and customer technical support and led several R&D teams to complete new product releases.
Patti holds a Bachelors degree from Queens University, Canada as well as an Associate degree in Communications from New Brunswick College, Canada.
Zhenjun Zhu leads Nokia IoT Market Development, including managing the ng Connect program for Asia. Since joining Nokia in 1998, he has held multiple product and solution marketing and business development positions. Before joining Nokia, he was a Senior Support Lead for Newbridge Networks, providing post-sales support and new product introduction; held a senior technical position with SBC Communications Inc. (now AT&T); and held R&D and technical support positions with IBM and Nortel Networks. He has an MBA from the University of Maryland’s Robert Smith Business School, a M.Sc. from Queen’s University of Canada and a B.Sc. from University of Western Ontario, both in Computer Science. He was a winner of the 1994-1995 Canadian National Science Research (NSERC) Award.
Vincent Weyl is the Director of Ecosystem Development for ng Connect and global lead for the IoT Community of the ng Connect Program. His role is to design and execute enabling strategies for ecosystem members to create and deliver business value in targeted market segments.
Vincent has a combined 20 years of experience in telecommunications, ecosystems and innovation management. He worked on consumer, enterprise and carrier market segments at Nokia where he successively led the Nokia Enterprise Partner Program worldwide and the ng Connect Program in EMEA, prior to founding and managing Taiaut and Ideafy, two startups delivering innovation management platforms and consulting services.
Vincent holds a MSEE from ISEP, Paris and a Master in Management from EM Lyon and Nokia University
